for the Grand Opening Event of the
Freedom House Museum at 1315 Duke Street
Monday, June 20 at 6 p.m.
Event will be held at the Shiloh Baptist Church Worship Center at 1401 Jamieson Avenue, across from the museum.
All are welcome to attend!
The Freedom House Museum will have extended hours on June 20 from 1 – 5:30 p.m.
Virginia State Delegate Delores McQuinn (70th District – Richmond), a critical leader for the Commonwealth’s African American initiatives, will provide the keynote address. The program will also feature remarks by Mayor Justin Wilson, Alexandria Black History Museum Director Audrey Davis, Former Alexandria City Manager Mark Jinks, Northern Virginia Urban League Board Chair Dr. Letty Maxwell, and City Poet Laureate Zeina Azzam.
The event will conclude with a reading of the names of the men, women, and children trafficked through 1315 Duke Street from Alexandria to New Orleans.
