Rev. Dr. Angelique Walker-Smith

The Rev. Dr. Angelique Walker-Smith is the National Senior Associate for Pan African and Orthodox Church Engagement at Bread for the World based in Washington D.C. Her work also includes Baptist and Ecumenical Relations that advances a framework of public theology through public policy advocacy.

Her work includes the Pan African Women of Faith advocacy initiative. She brings extensive global, national and local experience as a faith thought leader with many faiths, journalist, global/national television host, speaker, preacher, and author. Most recently she was a plenary speaker at the World Mission and Evangelism Conference in Arusha, Tanzania that included the Catholic (Vatican), Protestants, Orthodox churches and various interfaith guests and dignitaries. Her most recent scholarly works have been published in the new Anthology on African Christianity and the International Review of Mission. She was also a contributor to the book, Mr. President: Interfaith Perspectives on the Historic Presidency of Barack Obama. She is a contributor to the upcoming new Urban Ministry volume by Westminster Press. She is the editor of the new In Times Like These… A 2018 Weekly Pan African Devotional Guide honoring the 50th anniversary of the martyrdom of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King and the Poor People’s Campaign. She also has a national weekly column entitled Bread for Life. Her awards and recognitions include recognition from President Clinton, Senator Richard Lugar and two of her alma maters, Yale University Divinity School and Kent State University.

She is a recipient of the prestigious Indiana Sagamore of the Wabash award given to her from Vice President Pence who was Indiana governor at that time. She has also served as an Associate Minister at Beulah Baptist Church in Alexandria, VA and has served as Executive Director of The Church Federation of Greater Indianapolis as well as a Volunteer Assistant Chaplain at the Indiana Women’s Prison.
