March 19, 2020

Beloved,

We are Christians with faith in God and believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I have seen miracles performed in my life and the lives of others.

I also believe that the same God who created us and wakes us up each morning also blessed the world with doctors and medicine. There is no crisis of faith in trusting God for deliverance but also trusting the recommendations from public health and political officials whose knowledge ultimately comes from God, at least we pray. On Sunday, March 15, 2020, I made the decision to have Sunday service knowing that we would not have more than 50 people at church per the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) recommendation.

Since Sunday, the situation in our country has become increasingly worse. The new CDC’s recommendation is a gathering of no more than 10 people with a state of emergency from both Governor Hogan of Maryland and Governor Northam of Virginia.

Being members of the church, I am acutely aware of the need to show that we operate in crisis and maintain that the doors of our churches are open. Sometimes that means showing up on Sunday in the midst of trauma. In this season, that means making sure that the church continues to effectively minister to our communities and congregants.

I believe in deliverance, but I also believe in science, and the science behind pandemics, tells us that the COVID-19 pandemic could last well into August with quarantine and social distancing needed for several months. We will adjust accordingly and continue to monitor the situation.

Understanding the emotional ties to in person gatherings and respecting the need to fund fiscal operations, we must be creative in how we worship and tithe. This pandemic exposed a theme I have been expressing for a while in the sense that church, as we know it has to change and unfortunately, this global pandemic is forcing us to utilize technology and digital literacy or skills at school, work and church.

At present, we will conduct a virtual online service led by the millennials of Beulah, as this gathering will not exceed more than 10 people. You may view Beulah’s service via https://www.facebook.com/beulahbaptistva/

We will also move Wednesday Noon day prayer to teleconference starting Wednesday, March 25, 2020. Every Wednesday at Noon, we hope that you can participate.

If you would like to have prayer please Dial-in 712-770-5505; and then enter the access Code: 647404.

We will also be holding and conducting a prayer and sing-in teleconference for our seniors who may not be able to access on-line services. We will inform you of when these take place.

In the meantime, I am praying that our most vulnerable

  • Stay at home
  • Should any of our seniors need anything please do reach out to the church
  • Stay tuned for the church-wide conference-line for the church

Lastly, I am thankful for our leadership for their continued guidance and leadership.

One Love,
